Child portrait sessions

Whatever the age, from babies and toddlers to older children, natural photographs of little people make genuinely beautiful images.
Almost everyone that has children agrees that their favourite pictures are the natural photos, rather than artificially posed portraits. Pictures where their children are playing, running around, or even sleeping are the real memories that parents have so it’s important that these early years are captured.
The key to great photographs of children – whatever their age – is to create a natural setting in a familiar environment so that the children feel comfortable and relaxed.
On our photo sessions we take the time to gain the child’s trust and get down to their level – often quite literally. Only then can we capture their true personality. We also find breaking down the session into short bursts is more manageable for children.
The most natural and beautiful images of children are when they are playing and unaware you are taking their photo.
Portrait sessions are best taken in your own home, or in a location that is special to you, because it gives the photos much more meaning. We aren’t there to take photos of your home – we are there to take emotive images of your children – so don’t feel the need to tidy away all the toys before the shoot.
At the end of the session you will have a series of wonderful photos of a day in your child’s life.
